What You Need to Know About AlUla’s First Interactive Exhibition

Desert X in collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla have announced on Saturday the participating artists in the interactive exhibition, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia which open on January 31st and will run until March 7.

Desert X began in 2017, in California’s Coachella Valley, as a way to blend between modern art and the desert community. This will be Desert’s X very first international collaboration and the event will take part of AlUla’s Winter at Tantora festival.

The event will bring together a plurality of voices and is co-curated by Saudi curators Raneem Farsi and Aya Alireza with Desert X Artistic Director Neville Wakefield.

Participating artists in the event will include Lita Albuquerque (US); Manal AlDowayan (Saudi Arabia); Zahrah AlGhamdi (Saudi Arabia); Nasser AlSalem (Saudi Arabia); Rashed AlShashai (Saudi Arabia); Gisela Colon (Canada); Sherin Guirguis (Egypt); Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim (UAE); Nadim Karam (Lebanon); eL Seed (France); Wael Shawky (Egypt); Muhannad Shono (Saudi Arabia); Superflex (Denmark) and Rayyane Tabet (Lebanon).

The event will play a role in bringing together three continents and will serve as a gateway between the East and West, and with that marking an exciting moment for the Kingdom.

All You Need to Know About the Red Sea Marathon

Get your running shoes ready for the Kingdom is bringing you a one of a kind marathon to get you moving! King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) is hosting a Red Sea Marathon expected to attract a large number of runners.

The event is part of the challenge of MASAFAT relay marathon for companies and organizations and this version will be held in Rabigh province on the 29th of February.

What makes the marathon different than any other is that it caters to all segments, so that anyone can join and take part of the race.

A number of different races will be held targeting different fitness levels and genders, categories include a solo marathon, a marathon rally, half marathon and a family fun run!

With that being said, the marathon truly has everything for everyone! So gather your fit friends or family members for a quick fun run.

The Red Sea International Film Festival Reveals Details of its First Edition

Red Sea International Film Festival

The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) is one of the most anticipated event of 2020 and marks a great leap in the field of cinema for the Kingdom.

The festival has just recently announced its inaugural session that will launch in March in Jeddah’s Old Town under the theme of ‘Changing the script.’

The long anticipated Red Sea International Film Festival is set to kick off on the 12th of March with 107 feature film and short movies to be screened and a lineup of 16 films in-competition, seven non-competition films, 11 Saudi features, and 13 short films for the shorts competition, 23 films for best of year category, and 17 experimental films for the Tajreeb category.

The event will be held in Jeddah’s Al-Balad district, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It’s pleasing that we are bringing these great quality films discussing social issues of the day, said Sabbagh, Festival Director. “We have a strong desire to push diversity, particularly in women’s position in public spaces, and for a more open society. The films present a strong look at what makes society function and the relationship between the individual to patriarchy and hegemony.”

The festival will also witness the premiere of the Saudi film ‘Shams Al-Mareef’, one of two films to receive a USD 500,000 grant given to emerging Saudi filmmakers.

On the 21st of February, visitors of AlUla will get to enjoy live performances with a “Latin Feeling” with dual concerts by international Latin artists in the unique setting of the Maraya concert hall. The first performance of the evening is by Gypsy Kings, followed by a performance by Latin superstar Enrique Iglesias. 

The Gallery Of Mirrors

This art exhibition dives into the Arab history using photographs and video art, it’s currently being held at the Dammam Heritage Museum and will end on the 4th of April. The exhibition features eight art works from the Arab World Institute Paris alongside other international artist.
