The Fashion Forward Dubai is returning this year in October, and it will take place in Dubai Design District from the 30th of October till the second of November.
Since its launch back in 2013, Fashion Forward Dubai has emerged as a platform that showcases the regions’s leading designers, and this year’s edition will celebrate designers from the UAE, as well as international designers.
The theme of the upcoming edition will be a “shop-now” one, in recognition to the evolving digital means of online shopping, fashion buyers and consumers.
“The opportunity to ‘buy it now’ is a key element of FFWD 2019, as we evolve one of the region’s most compelling fashion platforms,” said Bong Guerrero, CEO and Co-Founder of Fashion Forward Dubai.
Executive Director of Dubai Design District, Khadija Al Bastaki commented on this upcoming edition saying, “We’re delighted to welcome back Dubai’s leading fashion event, Fashion Forward, to d3 this year. As a strategic partner and host venue for this season, d3 is again playing a critical part in the support of the region’s fashion industry through an event which this year will see even more designers participating and a greater number of our own business partners playing a central role in the programming. As d3 evolves, it is vital that such platforms also grow, and this edition will allow collections to be purchased at the event through the ‘shop now’ fashion platform”.
The 4-day retail pop-up will display chic accessory collections from leading designers in the region, the collections will be sold digitally and physically.
Besides Arab designers, the event will display special collections from global brands, exclusively to the Middle East.

UAE Announced the Relaxing of Islamic laws to Promote Personal Freedoms
The United Arab Emirates announced on Saturday a massive overhaul of the country’s Islamic personal laws, which will allow unmarried couples to cohabitate and loosen the restrictions on alcohol and more.
This aims at broadening personal freedoms as the country is positioning itself as a Westernized destination for tourists. These reforms will boost the country’s economic and “consolidate the UAE’s principles of tolerance,” said state-run WAM news agency.
These changes is also a reflection for the efforts of the Emirates’ rulers to keep up with the rapidly changing society at the UAE.
The amendment will allow for “cohabitation of unmarried couples,” which has been criminalized before in the UAE and in an attempt to “protect women’s rights,” the government will also get rid of the laws that defend “honor crimes,” a widely criticized tribal custom in which a male relative may evade prosecution for assaulting a woman seen as dishonoring a family.
