The Kingdom Secures $56 billion In Three Days

Saudi Arabia said it signed $56 billion of deals at an investment conference this week and expected the United States to remain a key business partner.

Over two dozen top officials and executives from the United States and Europe, including U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and chief executives of big banks, canceled their participation in the conference over the recent events following the journalist. Still, the three-day Future Investment Initiative conference drew hundreds of businessmen and government officials from around the world to a palatial venue in Riyadh, aiming to attract foreign capital to support Saudi economic reforms: “there were more than 25 deals signed worth $56 billion,” as stated by Khalid Al Falih, the Saudi Energy Minister.

Saudi Arabia went against all odds with this one, and nevertheless proves that its a strong player not only within the region, but in the entire world.

Saudi Art & Cultural Exhibition Launches in Paris

Prince Badr bin Abdullah, minister of culture and chairman of the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, has inaugurated earlier this week an exhibition showcasing Saudi art and culture at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Royal Commission for AlUla and Misk Art Institute and it hopes to promote positive image of Saudi Arabia through sharing the Kingdom’s heritage and exchanging cultural perception between the two countries.

19 artists got to display 39 pieces of their work at the exhibition held in Paris, which included contemporary works, bronze sculptures, photographs. The event at which the exhibition was inaugurated also witnessed poetry sessions, live music and culinary arts.

Visitors from across the world will get a true insight on the history of the Kingdom, by walking an exciting journey through time to see the rich heritage and culture of Saudi Arabia, showcased through the eyes of several local artists.

The event saw the presence of Prince Abdullah bin Khalid, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Austria; Noura Al-Kaabi, the Emirati minister of culture and knowledge development; and Park Yang-woo, the Korean minister of culture, sports and Tourism. Saudi and French officials and senior figures from also joined the launching event of the exhibition.

“culture and arts are at the heart of the national transformation through the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to build a vibrant society, a prosperous economy and an ambitious nation.” Prince Badr said during UNESCO’s 40th General Conference.

“Culture is essential to human development and to building bridges of agreement among societies that pave the way for a stronger world, where all peoples are interlinked despite their differences.” He added.

Meet Dania Akeel: Set to Become Saudi’s First Female Rider With an FIA license

Meet Dania Akeel, the Saudi female set to become the very first one to receive her Speed Bikes Competition license following her application for the Saudi Arabian Motorsport Federation.

This comes in light of the the General Sports Authority and the Saudi Arabian Motorsports Federation’s support for female Saudi athletes, by having special programs that aim at attracting young Saudis and develop their sporting experiences.

After she successfully attains her competition license, Akeel announced that her first participation in a competition will be in the UAE National SportsBike Super Series, which will take place in Dubai Autodrome.

The UAE National SportsBike Super Series grid is hosting the competition between more than 15 racers for five consecutive rounds.

“I am very grateful to God for the opportunities that have transpired for me to be able to race in the upcoming UAE National Sportbike Super Series organized by Furiosa Racing.” Akeel said.

“I would like to thank the Saudi Arabian Motorsports Federation for aproviding me with the utmost support in obtaining the license. Their methodology has been extremely efficient and helpful. I would also like to thank the Emirates Motorsport Organization and Furiosa Racing for their support and effort in guiding me through this process.” The female athlete added.

Cornerstone-laying Event for Diriyah Gate Project to be held on Wednesday

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) is organizing a cornerstone-laying event on Wednesday for the inauguration of the Diriyah Gate Project at the beginning of next year.

The project hopes to restore the legacy of the ancient city and position it as a cultural heritage project, the main aim is to restore its former state as a local and international destination for tourists from all over the world.

This all falls under the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia and seeing how Diriyah is one of the most promising and prominent destinations, it only makes sense to put so much focus on it. Especially with such huge events, concerts and activities that are set to take place in the historical area. Including Diriyah Music Festival and Formula E.

The event will see fireworks and an Orchestra performance, to celebrate the inauguration of Diriyah Gate Project at the beginning of 2020.

Also worth mentioning is that the project is considered as one of the biggest ones in the Kingdom’s plans, with a cost of more than SR64 billion ($17 billion).

The project will feature exhibitions, restaurants and arts academies that will launch educational initiatives in local specializations, including Arabic calligraphy, Islamic arts, Najdi architectural style, Najdi cuisine arts, theater, and Arab music

This way, the destination will turn to a mix between traditional urban communities and is expected to attract 25 to 30 million visitors annually. Visitors who will get to enjoy a world-class cultural and educational facilities which will include museums and galleries offering tourists fun and interactive experiences.
