Omar Sherif: A Closer Take on His Legendary Life

Today marks the legendary, Omar Sharif 86th birthday; Google honored the departed Egyptian actor by changing its logo with a special designed doodle all around the world. We captured the Lawrence of Arabia’s legendary life in 5 shots:

The beginning:

Omar Sherif, who was known for Middle Eastern handsomeness, was born in April 10, 1932 in Alexandria, Egypt.  At school, he learnt French, English and started to become an actor. Michel Shalhoub, that’s his given name at birth, started by participating in the school’s theater.

The love of his life: Faten or Cinema?

He realized he wanted to be an actor in 1954. Omar acted along with Faten Hamama  in “Seraa Fil-Wadi”. The couple starred in several movies together, and eventually got married in 1955. Their marriage lasted for almost 20 years and they had one son (Tarek) .

    

The Rise to Fame:           

Omar rose to stardom quickly.  Before garnering international acclaim, he had already starred in more than 20 films in Egypt. Over decades, Omar played a variety of characters. We will always remember him as a rebellious patriot in “Fi Baytena Ragol” 1961, a genuine Arab freedom fighter in “Lawrence of Arabia “1962, a Russian revolutionary poet in “Doctor Zhivago” 1965, and a handsome gambler in “FunngGirl” 1986.

Awards:

The Golden Globe Award winner continued to appear on screen and on television till the 21st century.  In 2003, he received the Cesar Award for Best Actor for his leading role in “Monsieur Ibrahim”, A French movie depicting the story of a Muslim Turkish merchant who becomes a father figure for a Jewish boy.

Playing Cards:

Besides acting, playing cards was Sherif’s other love. Not only he was an international bridge player, he also released books, videos and video games on the subject.

Princess Nourah bint Saad Becomes First Saudi Woman to Head Sports Club

Princess Nourah bint Saad is now officially the first Saudi woman to head a sports club after successfully acquiring the Umbrian football club Spoleto.

During her speech at a press conference, the princess thanked her hosts for their hospitality and outlined her ambitious plans for the team’s future.

“Football is a family passion, and Italian football is followed all over the world. This is why I chose to invest in Umbria,” she said at a press conference.”

She further explained the aspects that made her choose this club in specific, “Spoleto is a small, amateur football organization where it is possible to work with the aim of growing and aiming for promotion,” the Princess added. “But we cannot fail to consider the value and beauty of the city of Spoleto, which is famous throughout the world.”

This purchase is the second venture for the Saudi royal into sports club ownership, as Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad co-owns English Premier League football club Sheffield United.

We are proud to witness Saudi women achieving such remarkable milestones, what with Yasmeen Al Miamani becoming the first female commercial pilot just last month, Aseel Al Hamad making history by becoming the first-ever Saudi female F1 driver and now this!

We are filled with pride and hope that this could encourage more women to taken on challenging jobs in various fields.

Priyanka Chopra Wears Saudi Designer Honayda To Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Wedding

The iconic couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner took us all by surprise when they had a surprise post-BBMA wedding ceremony in Vegas, but luckily their second celebration was announced ahead and we all got to witness the spectacular festivities of it.

Rumors had it long before the couple tied the know at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, and second guesses began when the couple were announced husband and wife.

This is why by the time this weekend got to an end, fans had already guessed many of the details including the time, place and invitees of the celebration.

The guest list was long what with the full Jonas clan of course, Joe’s brothers Nick, Kevin and Frankie, along with Nick and Kevin’s wives Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas.

Model Ashley Graham, Dr. Phil and American DJ Diplo were also spotted in attendance, along with Sophie Turner bestie from Game of Thrones and maid of honor Maisie Williams, who was missing from the Vegas celebration.

Priyanka Chopra who never failed to impress! Looked gorgeous dressed in two looks by the Saudi designer Honayda. The first look was a metallic button-front dress from the designer’s spring/summer 2019 collection, and the other one was a satin white gown, worn for the pre-wedding rehearsal dinner.

Honayda Serafi is a born-and-raised Saudi designer, who jetted off to the Parsons in Paris before taking the fashion world by storm.
