Nasa Discovers the Corona of the Sun

Published

on

Nasa enters the solar atmosphere for the first time in human history. A spacecraft had touched the sun, Nasa’s parker solar probe had touched the suns upper atmosphere. The new milestone, marks a major step for the parker solar probe and one giant leap for solar science. Similarly, as landing on the moon had boosted humanity with knowledge and know how it was formed. The discovery of our solar systems star had allowed us to know about the solar system, and the formation of it. All of this had provided us with information about our solar system. As the solar probe is circulating closer to the Solar star new discoveries are made, such as the flow of particles from the sun that can influence the planet earth. In 2019, parker discovered, that magnetic zigzag structures in the solar wind called switchbacks are plentiful close to the sun, but how and where they are formed are unknown. The distance to the sun and the Parker Solar Probe, has now passed close to identify where they originate the Solar surface of the Sun. In the daring milestone mission, Nasa had spent a few hours at the Sun’s corona due to the intense conditions their. But it did manage to go as 15 as low as 15 solar radii from the sun’s surface. In that zone a pseudostreamer was found which is responsible for the huge structures observed in the solar eclipses. According to a statement by the National American Space Agency “Passing through the pseudostreamer was like flying into the eye of a storm,” NASA said in the same statement, noting that Parker saw changes such as quieter conditions and fewer particles.”, in addition scientists had discovered magnetic funnels coming from the photosphere called super granules. These where advantgous to understand the fundamentals of solar physics because they illustrate how the fast particles of the solar wind originate. Located at the base of the corona “The structure of the regions with switchbacks matches up with a small magnetic funnel structure at the base of the corona”, a statement by Stuart Bale a Professor at UC Berkely and lead author at Switch backs paper, stated in a Nasa statement.
