4 Habits to quit this Ramadan

Published

on

Ramadan-Kareem

Everything changes during Ramadan; working hours, eating diets, our own habits and lifestyle. We have been seeing the same habits and mistakes over and over each Ramadan.

Here are 4 habits you need to stop doing during Ramadan:

Being Too Angry:

Fasting shouldn’t be an excuse for throwing a tantrum anywhere during the day. On the contrary, fasting is about controlling yourself, not letting your hunger and thirst take over your human morals. Threatening others that you will fast because of something you don’t please is getting childish. Fasting is controlling your hunger, thirst and attitude.

Eating too much:

Fasting is not easy, specially the last few hours before Iftar and you feel like you are about to die out of hunger. Extreme hunger can lead to eat way too much from Iftar to Sohour, not keeping in mind the health risks you put yourself through; never mind the fact that excessive eating goes against what the holy month is all about. Also, your body is not capable of saving up food or water for later, over eating and drinking won’t make it easier for you the next day.

Judging People:

Remember that you fast by your own choice; judging others because they don’t fast or they are from another religion who happen to eat or drink in the straight isn’t very mature. You fast for spiritual and religious reasons; shaming others isn’t spiritual nor religious.

Unproductivity:

Although we get less working hours during Ramadan, some people remain unproductive. Fasting was never an excuse to procrastinate during your day; being productive is actually a part of the ritual. Try to create a routine for yourself during the day to be as productive as you can; make time for work, prayers and TV shows.

Don’t use fasting as an excuse for anything negative; it is the holy month, so make the best of it.

Happy Ramadan
